High-powered, one-man development shop!

Hello! My name is Jim Podroskey (a.k.a Erestar). I make custom web applications.

Custom Software for Your Business

Fill the gaps left by commercial packages. Have a business process that doesn't have a solution? Stuck emailing around spreadsheets? Tired of conflicting document versions? You might need an internal business application!

Design to Reality

Are you a graphic artist? Need to take that beautiful design and turn it in to a modern, responsive web site?

I've worked with designers to produce a large number of web sites over the years. I also offer consulting during the design phase, helping to promote best practices and identifying aspects that may be problematic when moving from print to the Web.

Tools of the Trade

All of my new projects probably start with...

12+ Years
Language of choice since version 3. Currently making full use of features through 5.4, including namespaces and traits.
Twitter Bootstrap

Twitter Bootstrap

Used in 10+ projects
Primary CSS Framework since July 2012. Great for responsive sites.

10+ Years
My prefered and most-used relational database system for my software. Also extensive administrative experience.

5+ Years
Prefered application framework for medium to large projects. Deployed over 25 projects in Symfony 1.4, and switched new projects exclusively to Symfony 2 in the summer of 2012.

4+ Years
I switched from Prototype to jQuery and jQuery UI in 2008, and have since used it in nearly all of my web applications, often times with custom plugins.

Getting Things Done

It's not all about languanges and frameworks...

Here is a list of peripheral tools that I make frequent use of in my day to day work.

  • Jira - For tracking issues, milestones, and releases for my projects.
  • Confluence - Used for project planning, collaboration, and internal documentation.
  • Git - Prefered source control system.
  • Subversion - I used Subversion for many years and dozens of projects before switching to Git. I still have a lot of code living in SVN.
